One of my husband's past accounts from 1997 was (according to Discover) billed to various shopping malls in our city instead of our home address (all of our other bills came to our authentic address and were paid on time). Sadly, this account was assessed multiple late fees and other charges and eventually sent to collection. We have never heard from the collection agency but this is all on the report and Discover refuses to change the address or deal with the issue and sent us directly to the creditor. Account was "charged off as bad debt in 9/97" and was at that time allegedly $1800 on a card with a lower limit. I am going to fight this tooth and nail but need a sound strategy --- HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you I have been reading the other posts, it's just that I don't know if I am supposed to send validation to the CA or to Discover. We have NEVER heard from or talked to the CA. What incentive does Discover have to remove it if they have already charged off?
