how do you dispute wrong addresses? is there a form letter? i didn't know if sending a letter or using one of the cra's forms would do.
"this address is wrong, I never lived there. Please remove". I last cleaned up my CR 3 years ago, and i never used any form letters or anthing beyond plain old conversational english in them. Never quoted FCRA, etc. I ended up totaly clean, just to get laid off right afterwards (laid off 3 times total over 18 months) and got myself right back into a hole again
I just started repairing my credit last month. Using advice I found on this board, I simply called the big three, told them they were wrong, and they deleted them without a word. Equifax 888-567-8688 Experian 800-583-4080 Trans Union 800-916-8800
thanks guys, i'll go ahead and try it. keep you informed.... sorry to hear that jason. keep your head up.
thanks! back then i never came accross this group or any others it would have been very nice! it has a support group effect at least i know it's possible, since I've been there before. and guys like bill bauer opened my eyes to entirely new approaches... unfortunatley, this time around I have Cap 1 to deal with, and it appears they're tough.
I called TU and they refused to remove the old addresses The rep said she would put that piece of information "IN DISPUTE" whatever that means ... I want to try writing a letter and see what happens .. -- lakpr
Just to let you know, I just told each of the BIG 3 that I *co-signed* for a family member, and when that company reports the pay record, they report the information on my credit report too. I went on to say that I NEVER lived @ that address, and that I want it removed. That's all it took, and ALL the old addresses are gone. Hope this helps! monanell
I feel for you. May, 2000, December 2001, November, 2002. Now we get to explain the "job changes" on DH's resume. Oh boy.
I have called in the past and had them revmoed over the phone with EQ and EXP. TU made me go through the 30 day dispute process. Some addresses EXP would not remove, even tho they were mispelled, backwards, wrong numbers, etc. The reason? some items that werent showing on my report, and hadnt been showing for like 2 years..had those addresses associated with them. They said because of that, they could not be removed. so, this tells me that they have seperate reports that they keep on you, which I already found out..for like mortgages over 160k or whatever, they'll pull a more 'detailed' report. you can't even see the items to even dispute them. The only way I knew they were there was because I tried to dispute a clearly incorrect address. idiotic.
