someone posted about insweb here recently and i did use them

    www.insweb.com

from the short list of auto insurance issuers, i picked Amica (www.amica.com) since they did not pull credit.

Amica's a preferred risk company - i think it means they issue coverage based on other factors like your driving record and car value/quality, plus they have certain guidelines for insurance coverage that exceed state minimums that you have to take if you want their policy.

it went pretty well for me - got a quote for $1300 per year on a 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS for $300k/$500 deductible.

Compare that with All State, giving me the shaft by pulling TU twice, and saying $1300 per 6 months.

my new rate is half the price! woo hoo!

That site is giving out incorrect info. Allstate and Amica do pull credit. In your own post you state Allstate pulled TU twice. When I put in dummy info (enough to get an accurate quote) they came back saying Allstate does not pull credit. I know they pull TU in VA.

Others here can testify that Amica pulls credit. Maybe they justify it by calling it another name, I have heard that also, but you will see an insurance inquiry if you look, I bet ya.

When I received the list of 4 companies, amica was shown not to pull credit and allstate did, i'm using allstate now (not by choice) which is why i want to switch.

fwiw, i'm in WA, so maybe different companies choose not to pull credit in certain states.

i've been checking my credit reports daily and none have an inquiry from amica.

On mine, they showed that Allstate did not - but they do. I wasn't putting you down, I just think some folks will be upset if they think Allstate doesn't pull credit. Same with Amica - Ask maggie75 - they told her they didn't and a few days later she got an inquiry from them.

Lots of states do not allow it now - CA, MD, MN, GA, NE, I forget which others. WA does allow it.

FYI - I have AMICA and they do pull credit. They pulled Equifax for me. Amica is an excellent company (atleast for me thus far). I have computer chipped keys and Amica will replace them / rekey the entire car without any deductible. They will also replace (1X) the windshield without deductible. Your mileage may vary, but It's all written into my policy without additional charge.

Just wanted to say in the state of Florida and you have comprehensive insurance you can get your windshield replaced FREE. I'm not sure if that is in every state but ALL insurance companies have to abide by that law.

Breeze is correct. I asked Amica not to pull CR, rep said they would not. but they did.

However, I disputed it. I believe it was on Equifax, and it was removed.

I asked Geico not to pull credit and they did not, and I got a good rate with them. I am in Texas.
