    Hi all,

Is the internal XP firewall just as good as the Zone Alarm (v 3.0)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,

I have ZoneAlarm pro, and I like it.

I must admit, I had to do some serious tweaking to make it work.

    O.k. I admit, it can be a pain :)

I had to individually adjust the security and privacy settings for each site I visit.

I run Tiny Personal firewall and I love it. It takes a bit of playing with to run right and you have to be a bit technologically savvy but it works great, it's free, and it also stops unauthorized outgoing traffic.

Be sure to change your browser protocol entries to both TCP and UDP or the fire wall will really slow down your browsing.

Also test your system with "Shields Up": This you don't have to download, you just test your system. If you set up your firewall correctly you will look like you don't exist so eventually people will stop pinging you.

I'm not trying to hijack a thread, but Steve Gibson's website is one of my favorites.

I love his writing, and I wish I could go to one of his lectures. (he has never come to Louisiana to speak).
