Hi, I got my first credit card a while back, and due to some strange circumstances involving alcoholism and other factors I started getting bills that I couldn't pay.

First I had a $300 bill that I couldn't pay, I let the month roll by without paying it, then my parents paid it for me.

About two months later I maxed out my credit card at $1000, mostly from cash advances to pay for my booze fix etc. I didn't pay it at the end of the month, then I paid off about $300, which before the end of the month I had reincurred as debt (so it was maxxed out again).

And I left it for another month or so and then paid off $300 (I think my bill is currently around $700).

I'm now sober and I plan on working and getting my life in order, which also involves getting a car etc. I'm wondering if my credit rating is bad etc now, what I need to do to fix it, will I be able to finance a car? Or get a student loan? Etc?

    Thanks.
