Okay, I have been whining over an auto loan that I got last year that was at 23%. IIICCKKK! Well, I just got off the phone with my bank. They have approved us for a refi at 6.5%!!!!!! This knocks 150 bux off my monthly payment. The only condition was to prove payment/settlement for the collection accounts I had left (3) Well, It kinda sucks because 2 of these will drop in the next year and I hate to pay them now. But, since the reporting clock will not reset in paying them, they will still drop this year. Also, one that was for 400 bux....I said I'll pay 100 and thats it. They agreed. I said: a) you get your money, and I get you deleted from my report, b) you get no money, your client gets no money, and I still get you deleted from my report. Well, didn't work at getting deletions, but everyone settled for less. These companies NEVER delete, even when I told them that they are a few months from getting NOTHING anyways. I did the math and the extra 150 bucks a month in interest will pay for the collections in less than 4 months...well worth it. So, even though I will have pd collections, I guess it is okay, since 2 of them will drop soon anyway. I am totally stoked!!!!!
Thanks psp... I hate having to pay, but, I guess I'm opaying one way or another, right?? (hear the valium dispenser now)
Just please be careful that the CAs don't reage on your reports to the date you pay the settlement!!! Then they are on there for another 7 years and you would probably have to sue to get them off when they were supposed to! Keep monitoring your reports!
yeah, I know...I've already talked to them about that. They said they wouldn't re-age it, but...who knows. I know that I have plenty of info that should state that they must delete after 7 years. Would help if I could get a little more info, though...just in case.
Thanks guys...now I just have to get CA's to fax me letters showing I paid them. Hopefully they weren't f.o.s. when they told me they would send faxes reflecting paid status. Seems like I always bring the stress on to myself! Now, do I make car payment or just hold onto the money until last minute in case it falls through? Waiting...usually, not-so-patiently...
