I FINALLY got a collection account removed from my credit report. I started in March contacting them and sort of "burned out" of the credit repair journey, so I'm just picking back up. The collection was for a cable bill and they were unwilling to work with me on the $223.00 due. It was also trashing my score. I finally got fed up and faxed them the 48-hour fax letter yesterday (I'd sent them validation letters back in March and never got proof; they sent letters certified; I just never signed for them). I checked my Equifax report today. It's GONE!!!! I have a few things in dispute but with the collection agency tradeline on my FICO was 652..now it's 720!!!! That big of a jump over a measly $223.00!! Keep in mind, I have some things in dispute. They are:

    Cross Country-Charge Off from 2000
    FCNB-Charge off from 2000
MBNA-disputing some late pays from 2000

Questions: Who'll approve me with a 720 FICO with those charge-off's? I applied and was declined for Citi and few weeks back and I'll call them on Monday for reconsideration. But who else? I'm so excited. I'm finally recovering from my bad credit and want to celebrate with my first VISA or MC in 2 1/2 years!!

    WooHoo! Congrats!

No suggestions on who you should apply with though.

Lb, Congratulations on the score. Great score considering all the baddies remaining. Check to see who pulls EQ only. I know AMEX will decline a chargeoff. Good luck. Charlie

    Congrats,

I know that you shouldn't try again with Citibank until ALL your charge-offs are gone. They may pull a second inquiry and deny you again.

I had one chargeoff from 1996 when I applied for the GM card and was approved...
