Just switched my new delta skymiles to Optima platinum Prime +4%, which comes to 9.9%. Wow, my first card under 10% APR. Unbelievable, less than a year's worth of credit history, and already an AMEX platinum holder!! Just wanted to say thanks to everyone (especially Sam, Cyprigirl and MP$40) for all the info and help. Now to start working on improving that $2000 CL they gave me....
Congrats, Roman. Welcome to the amex platinum club, oh what a wonderful feeling it is, I'm still so excited about mine and it's been 2 weeks, so I know how you feel. p.s. follow saars instructions on the credit limit(see my post Amexers) mindy
Mindylou or Roman, If I wanted to get a AMEX Blue do you think that is possible? How is the credit of you guys. I just have high balances on my current cards but my income is decent. I dont have any negatives but I have many inquiries in the last 12 months. Actually, I have 1 rehabiliated perkins student loan which comes on in a few days. I got the delta skymiles gold and I am gonna upgrade it to the optima platinum as suggested on the board. I also thru in an application for the Amex gold card on Thanksgiving day. Whatcha think?
Roni, from what I've read on the board it's a very good possibility to get blue if you have another amex card, I think what I read said to wait 3 months after getting your first card and give it a try, but I don't know if they(amex) still uses the same guidelines such as no more than 5 inq in last 6 months, must not be over 50% on ratio for card usage, maybe if Saar is still hanging around he could help you out on this question. But I really think if you're account is in good standing with amex chances are good. mindy
Hey Mindylou, I got the still processing your application message on the 2ND application for the amex gold card (the charge card). I dont know what is best, the charge card, the blue card, the optima platinum card. I never much gave AMEX a serious consideration b/c I never thought that I would get a card. I know that platinum is best...of course. Do alot of people here have 2 amex cards.
Not sure about how many people have 2 or more cards but, I do know that you can have 2 cards. I think Mom3 has green and blue. mindy
Ok thank mindy. I remember that too about mom so i posted a new thread to her. thanks again. Keeping my fingers crossed on the 2nd application.
Lizardking, I have around 670 on equifax (which they pulled). I don't have any negatives, except for about 3 inquiries in the last 6 months, just a short history. 2% utilization, 5 open credit lines. They gave me absolutly no problems in switching products, kind of like the way citi handles it. I would just call and ask to switch (thats the keyword, never use the term upgrade roni, I read a post from MP$40, that asked to switch from a delta skymiles card and was offered blue. You should call at different times to different reps, you might luck out! Thanks again to everyone for all the advice and kind words.
