I sent a request to a CA for debt validation. They sent me a print out that is hard to follow with some charges on it and it looks like some payments. I am not really sure what it is or how it classifies as "Validation". Like I said it is like 4 pages of documents with not a whole lot of info on it. I am not sure what I should do about this. I can't even tell how they think this debt is actually mine other than it has my name on it, spelled wrong.... What should my next step be? Thanks for the help!
Did they provide the name of the original creditor, and the original account number? What type of product, service, CC, or loan, do they claim this was for? Do the alleged payments or the alleged payment dates match anything in your records? When was the account opened, and when do they claim the last payment was made? What information do they claim identifies the account as yours? Name, address, SSN, DOB?
It is from a hospital, they have a patient number and a medical records number. They have a bill to for my name but a patient name is my maiden name and spelled wrong. The admitted date was 6-12-02, the billing date is 11/29/04. They have payments on 6/22/02 but these are not payments I have made.... Not sure what this is even for. Thanks Aimee
Were you treated at that hospital on 6-12-02? If so, were you covered by insurance at the time? Was the hospital in-network, and covered under a contract with your insurance company? Was the claim submitted correctly, and timely, to your insurance company? If they are in-network, and they fail to submit timely, they may be barred from submitting a claim, and barred from billing you, the patient. What did your EOB say? Contact your insurance company to see if they paid, and if any amount was due as co-pay.
I do not remember having services done on the date listed, nor do I remember having done what they have listed as services. I do not have the same insurance company that I had then. I really do not even remember the name of the company I had. What do I need to do to prove this is not me. Should I request further info? Thanks AImee
