Zales charge-off, LHR

I pulled my wife's credit and it has a Zales/Citibank charge-off from before we were married. It looks like LHR started re-aging it. Does anyone have any experience trying to settle for total deletion with Zales? LHR? I really do not have the time available to wait for the whole verification/validation process, unless there is no other option.

    Any hints?

When was it originally charged off?

I really don't know, since it has been at least 6 years, but it has it listed with activity in 2001,02,03 and 04. I know for a fact that there has been no actvity since my oldest daughter was born in 98.

here is some info that may help you delete their tradeline from your reports
each state has its own department of financial institutions which regulate CA

this link applies only to the state of Arizona and nevade
    http://www.azdfi.gov/Lists/CA_List.HTML
    http://fid.state.nv.us/collection agency.htm

for other states check here http://www.mtraweb.org/links.shtm
be sure to check out ( your states) DFI and secretary of state business portal or Corporation commission website to confirm their actual status.

I would send them a C&D certified letter and request immediate removal of the account based on this fact if they refuse to comply or ignore you , file a complaint with DFI, or AG or FTC to help resolve your issue.

    OR seek legal counsel :)

I am not an attorney nor is this legal advice just my opinion

to my knowledge LHR is NOT licensed that may solve your CA issue but if Zales has listed their TL as well then follow Ontracks advice.

if the TL was originally back in 1998 & you have not made a payment since then I would think it is past SOL for the credit bureau to even report it, ( 7 years)

it helps if you have any evidence to support your claim such as an old report that reflects that date

I would dispute it with the CRA and state it is past sol.
