I just confirmed that those who aren't members of CreditExpert can also use the same trick to dispute inquiries as detailed in the Creditnet thread titled "Doc's Trick"... Use the same instructions except for Step 1. Instead of logging onto CreditExpert, simply go here:

    http://www.experian.com/consumer/cac/InvalidateSession?code=DISPUTE

(or go to www.experian.com/consumer and then click the dispute link)...

Then fill out your credit report number, Social Security Card number, zip code, and state, and you'll access a new report that looks exactly like the one in CreditExpert. All the links are the same as well. (See the other thread for instructions.)

Of course, you will need that credit report number. For that, you will need to use the latest Experian report you've received. You can also simply buy one online for $9 at www.experian.com/consumer and then dispute from there, same links, same tricks, etc.

Thanks to John77 for this great tip.

    OK! Doc, got a questions....

If we have a report number, can we always log in to view a current version? What I'm getting at is this - Do I need to continue my subscription to CE, if I can have unlimited access to my CR though this link??? The only thing I would not get is the CE score! Am I thinking this through correctly?? If this is correct, Doc I really will pay you $80 bucks a year just to make sure you log onto CreditNet EVERYDAY for us to praise you!

    Let me know your thoughts

LOL, thank you for the kudos!! Maybe YOUR post will convince my wife I'm superhuman. That said, YOU ARE CORRECT. I just got a neighbor (also a creditaholic) to confirm this -- if you get a report, then "dispute" using the report ID, you'll be able to pull a newer report. Another example of "Javan's Tricksâ?¢"! :)

How many points can your score go up with each inquiry deleted? Experian is my lowest at 612 and I would love to get it bumped up.

It may vary, but mine went up 2 points with 1 hard inq. and 7 soft inq. deleted. Don't think the soft inquiries factored into this though.
