    Hi All,

I first started working on my credit almost two years ago. It took me nine months, but I managed to clear all (23) derogatory remarks from my credit reports. End of story, right? Not exactly...

Last Friday I received a letter from a collection agency attempting to collect $9,000 on a debt that was more than eight years old. I knew it was unenforceable, but I was still concerned that I had no way to verify the age of the debt and that they could re-age it and ding my credit. I searched through all of my printed credit reports. On the very first Experian report I ever pulled (in 2002, I have about 10 Experian reports), I found it. The statement next to it says: "This account is scheduled to continue on record until 4-2003". Now I have the proof I need to go after the CA if they attempt to re-age this debt!

Had I thrown out this oldest of my credit reports, I never would have been able to prove anything. So, a word to the wise, keep everything!

You only need to keep 2 things.
1*everything you don't think you will ever need.
2*everything you think or know you might or will need.

Hi Ryder, could not agree with you more! I have that same type of Experian report from a few years ago and it is going to make it very simple for me to remove the accounts that these yahoo CA's have re-aged since.
