Half you guys are moving way too fast.

You didn't get into trouble last night and you can't fix it by noon tomorrow. You need to do your homework and develop a strategy for dealing with these problems. NONE of this stuff is cut and dry. It's more an art form than a science.

We do care about how successful you're going to be. Those of us who've had the best success knew what we were doing before we did ANYTHING at all.

This process typically takes 3 months to a year, so take your time, take notes and hit the INTRO posts at the top of the first panel.

    :)

Yep, I understand that. I want to absorb and learn so much more, but the item I posted about kinda requires attention, dont ya think?

Not only that, but I deeply respect the opinions of the seasoned veterans and want to know if you think I am making a mistake, but I need to know why you are saying what you say. Like "slow down" doesn't really mean anything to me. If you were to say "go back and read blah blah blah and rethink this" or nope, that will not work because yada yada yada, try something else" I could totally dig that, but me being the ever-questioning kinda chick that I am, I need a little more info.

Oh don't get me wrong, ever-questioning chicks are great. :)

When I first came here, man I was confused. I began reading profusely, staying up all night, sometimes for 2 days at a time. I've been lucky I guess. I'm self employed and could take the first 6 months or so off and just study my butt off.

Well ... one morning I woke up and it all just kinda ... FIT TOGETHER. Let's call it [for lack of a better word] "enlightenment". When everything just sorta "CLICKS". Like the "OH YEAH" lite came on. Ya know?

Most of the confusion was gone.

Congress designed this whole system to operate as a smooth, integrated, harmonious process that, if it worked the way it's supposed to, would facilitate quick and accurate resolution to all disputes.

It's the CA's and CRA's that screw it all up.

I'd like to see everyone experience at least some degree of "enlightenment" before you try to attack the problem.

If you understand how the system is supposed to work you can spot violations a mile away, and avoid a lot of mistakes I've been seeing lately, that's all.

Of course there are situations which demand immediate attention. But I would try to slow down some if I could.

    Here's an example:

Many of these CA's now get trigger alerts from the CRA's when you dispute something. So what do you do when you dispute item A, and then the wolves come out for Items B, C, D, E & F?

Also; sometimes it's just a good idea to just wait awhile.

We need to think about these things.

    :)

Well, I already have SOME degree of enlightenment, granted, Im no whychat or Lizardking or Butch, but I have a pretty good grasp. So if I have made some dumbass mistake, just TELL ME. I'm not expecting you to structure my game plan, but could you just be a WEEEEE bit more specific? This is driving me insane, just TELL ME~

Oooooohhhh, I get it, you're one of those guys that likes to have chicks following you around from thread to thread.... you drop a crumb in one, then she follows you to another, eagerly hoping for that one tiny little tidbit.... lol J/K!
OK, RELAX, IT WAS JUST A JOKE~!

I've noticed alot of tourists playing no limit texas hold em here lately also. SCARY, When you get super low on chips good luck. They play HARD!

Sure, you can get lucky all of the time, but it isn't realistic at all. Time is more valuable than anything.

I'm not exactly a total newbie, but if I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now. I would do things at about 20-25% of the speed I have seen posted lately here by some.

I was one of the lucky ones that didn't know about creditnet until a year after I started. It was a good realistic pace that kept me out of trouble.

Get in and out and don't let them remember you.

I actually wish millions more went at these fast paces. I would be a saint, with clean reports LOL

    Hee hee

I'm not addressing anyone in particular here! but I'm seeing alot of "I just sent out an ITS whats the next step?" type posts. What we are saying is, you should know what your next three steps are, given a variety of scenarios, before you take step one :)

notice that alot of us that have arrived here are either OCD or hyperactive ;)

it is a slow process. Took me over 3 years and i still haven't reached my goals yet (one of every). may never. But oh well. Keep working at it.

Remember its allowed to have multiple disputes with one credit bureau at the same time. so if you don't want your big dispute frivoulous you can run the gamut of several small non-overlapping disputes, that should give you some meat to chew on. ;)

Had I discovered this board before I went Dispute Crazy Online, I would have done things differently.

Unfortunately, much of the damage was done - challenged EVERYTHING I could online.

Once I got here, realized the best strategy is to remove old info first and take on the low hanging fruit.

I am now taking on my toughest ones - from my BK. My goal is to get them looking "not late", which they never were.

    Good comments gang,

When we first start out you don't want these people to know that you know what you're doing.

    My first dispute letters were as follows;

MAN, did I get fast service. Probably because nobody ever calls them "friends". I planned it that way.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for them to figure out who you really are. But to start out on the wrong side is just counterproductive.

Believe me, they all know who I am now, but know what, I got ALL my TL's removed BEFORE they figured me out. Now it's too late.

    LOL

I disagree with the title of this thread, the tone of this thread and that there is any straight-forward path for proceeding at all.

    Nodding and flying with Trish!!!!!!!!

The worst and only incurable mistake someone can make is doing NOTHING.

Study for 6 months before doing anything??? OMGGGGGGG, no way.

And most importantly, this is a learning process, and an ongoing process of finding answers, few of which are carved in stone.

It is not something that you learn and then are done with, there are no certificates to be issued, no 101 classes.

There is no right and wrong way to proceed, there are general guidelines and recommendations, what has worked for others, and the laws that the CRA's, furnishers, and CA's refuse to abide by.

Get your reports, analyze them, create a plan with a goal and work it.

    Keep on keepin' on.

Following-up and persistence will get you further than anything else you may or may not learn along the way.

There is no magic, no secrets, no silver bullets.

Sassy, I think you made the point without realizing it--get your reports and make a plan.

Butch is talking about some people who want to fire off ITS letters, but say "I haven't gotten my reports yet, so I'm not sure what they say."

I THINK (I certainly don't want to put words into Butch's mouth) that he's not saying read for six months first, I think he's saying get the reports, ANALYZE them, then make a multi-step plan for how to attack this, rather than just firing off letters without a clue what will happen or what they'll do when the results come in.

So you've added some fine advice. Figure out what steps you need to take, outline a plan, and follow it. Don't go "shotgunning" everyone everywhere. Understand the implications of your actions and what will happen next.

    Re: Re: Slow Down !!!

    Thank you, Hedwig!

Butch didn't say to slow down and not send ITS's unless you understand what you are doing. That I would have agreed with.

He said, half you guys are moving too fast, that the process takes 3 months to a year, that he took off 6 months to learn before doing anything at all, and that enlightenment was needed first.

I agree with you absolutely and with Jlynn as well who referenced ITS's.

I say, get your reports, make a plan, and work it -- enlightenment comes along the way. The worst anyone can do is nothing and even doing nothing ends within a specific and regulated timeframe.

And more importantly, you don't learn a thing and then are done learning -- that's the point, it is a ongoing learning and research process. You can't know everything before you begin, because it isn't possible. You won't even know everything when you think you are done. There is no last chapter.

I agree. And just when you think you're done, and your reports are clean, somebody screws up still again!!!
