I.D. inquiry, or an inquiry to pre-approve you for something...should be classified as a soft inquiry.

I have several DTC's on my reports so I did a search here for a definition. There's the one in this thread(a SSN soft inquiry) and there was also a previous thread that DTC stood for "The Delinquent Tenant Cooperative"...so I checked the web site (see text below) and it seems that DTC could be a potential way for CAs to collect info...(doesn't seem that it should be a legal method, though) Anyway, does anyone know which it is: a "SSN" soft inquiry or the "Deliquent Tenant Cooperative"?

"....The Delinquent Tenant Cooperative provides a forum for rental property owners to share derogatory resident information with one another. The information shared is one crucial step in ensuring successful tenant screening. Never before has there been an opportunity for property management personnel to freely exchange this information on a nationwide basis, 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The opportunity we provide is unprecedented.

Once your registration is approved, you will be able to go online, and for no additional charge, review the following information on tenants that have been reported:

    Delinquent payment history patterns
    Property damage
    Suspected criminal activity
    Uncleanliness
    Chronic disturbances
    ......."
