Does anyone know how difficult this card is to obtain? I was declined the blue with a 680 Equifax. I am a grad student so I was thinking about applying for the Amex Green Student card. Any suggestions?
Is there a requirement that you must have 1 or 2 years of on time payments with another credit card to even be considered for the AMEX green?
I think the Green card is the easiest of the AmEx cards to get. I was approved instantly online with an Equifax around 660. I think a score around 650 will get you in. The Blue definitely requires a 680, though there are ways to get around that.
Marci: You stated that AMEX Blue approval requires a score of 680, but that there "are ways of getting around that." What are those ways? I'd like to have that card if possible. I presently have an EQ of 699 or so, a EXP CE score of 670, and I think my TU score is around 650 or so. Also, about two billing cycles ago I received an AMEX Gold card. I am concerned because I have a lot of inquiries, and a lot of new accounts, in the past 6 months and think they may cause me to be declined. Do you know which report they will pull? Any thoughts on whether I should apply? -chriscraft
Here is a link detailing my experiences. Read it carefully and read the links *in it* carefully. All the information is there. I think you will be approved, but if you are denied for the Blue, call the MORE Team and ask a supervisor for a reconsideration - particularly b/c you are a Gold cardmember. That's exactly why the MORE team is there. If you e-mail me (do you still have my e-mail address?) - I'll give you the name of a MORE supervisor with whom you can speak. Apparently, a supervisor can approve you on the spot, though mine took overnight for approval. Your scores are FAR better than mine were when I applied and we have similar new accounts and lots of inquiries. I hope it works for you. http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...60&highlight="amex+green+approved"#post116960
It is a credit dept. in AmEx that assists *existing* cardholders in getting credit line increases and approval for new cards.
Marci: Thanks for the info. Would you mind sending me your email address so we can chat offline for a few minutes? Please send to me at jvd@tahoe.com. Thanks much. -chriscraft
