Hi everyone. Lots of great information here so thanks in advance!

Quick question - there is a current suit against me for an alleged debt. The judge would like us to work it out so I've been trying my best. Long story short, after getting the run around I finally spoke to someone at the law firm today and offered a settlement. They said they had to contact their client for approval and confirmed my phone number. I then find out that a couple of hours later they left a message on a relative's answering machine (not the phone number I confirmed with them) talking about the settlement amount, etc. This is a violation of FDCPA, correct?

It certainly sounds like it. Take steps RIGHT THIS SECOND to preserve that message! Use your MP3 player to record it (including the date & time).

Now you just need to file the federal lawsuit for FDCPA violations (3rd party disclosure), serve them, and start negotiating.
