I have a question for the pros here, My credit is decent, I don't have a problem with getting credit cards, I was just approved for a fleet mastercard with a 9,000 balance transfer. But I am always getting denied from Amex. I apply for amex at lease once a year and am always getting knocked down. My question is, Is there any way that I can get on a list with a possible affiliate of Amex or any other way so I can at least be on their mailing list? Or can I go on there website and sign up for offers? I do not want to apply for a card from them unless I know I would be approved as I don't need the hard inquiry. As far as fleet goes, I asked the rep before I accepted their offer and the offer stated that I fit there criteria for credit at the time the offer was made, and the Rep confirmed this fact.. HELP ME..!!! I WANT AN AMEX...LOL Thanks in advance Mike

if you have a bk they wont approve. if youve defaulted on amex before they wont approve. i think you need a 680 and they use eq and or ex. make sure you are below 50% of your limits on other cards when you apply. you need 2 years of excellent credit.

I applied for two Amex products last week. (Amex Green and the Amex Blue).

The last poster was right, no major derogs and you cannot have a charge-off on Amex in the past. I did have one account with close to being maxed out 6200 owed/6800 CL.

Amex pulled EQ where my score were 706 with 2 inqs. pulled in the last 6 months.

My history (Cap 1) dates back 7 years and with my Providians dating back 2000, 2001 and a Target Visa opened in Nov 2001.

My total utilization at time of application was 33%.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Mirage

Here is an update, I went to the AMEX web site and noticed something new, I am sure not new to you guys and girls. I applied for the Amex travel funds card which is a prepaid card, so at least it is in there system and maybe I will get offers. I had the Optima secured card and never received one offer from them even though I was never late for the almost 3 years that I had the card. So people, do you think I took the right approach in applying for the Travel Funds card? Thanks, Mike
